Councillor Michael Jolliffe was formally elected as Mayor of Chickerell in May 2011, to serve for the ensuing Civic Year.

Councillor Jolliffe has served on Chickerell Town Council for 12 years.

Councillor Jolliffe said “I was extremely pleased to be elected Mayor by my Council colleagues and I consider it a great honour to represent Chickerell.  I would like to thank Cllr Jean Dunseith and Derek for all their hard work and dedication in the past year.

As Mayor of Chickerell, Councillor Jolliffe gets invited to around 80 engagements a year and is supported by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Robbie Dunster, who is asked to attend any engagements that the Mayor is unable to attend.

January has been quieter but, along [...]]]> December/January

December was a very busy month, I attended lots of Civic Carol Services all over Dorset.  It is a wonderful experience going to all the parts of Dorset I have never visited before and I am amazed at how many pretty churches there are tucked away in the Dorset countryside.

January has been quieter but, along with another Town Councillor, Cllr Mogg, and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Dunster, I attended a briefing meeting for the Olympic Torch Route 2012.   We are very excited that the Olympic Torch will be passing through Chickerell, a great honour, and we are looking forward to showing the world what a lovely place we live in.  Look out for further details of things you can get involved in. 

Play Area Opening

The Grand Opening of the new facilities on Willowbed Field went extremely well and I’m sure all of you who attended had a great time.  It was fantastic to see the equipment being used so well and being enjoyed by all the residents.

To see the children surge through the gates when they were opened is a sight I will never forget, such a thrill!
